Based in the American Northwest, Controltech manufactured its first bike product, a light-weight bar end, in 1989. It wasn't long before the company had developed an enviable reputation for its expertise in aluminium. Pretty soon, Controltech was well known for its light-weight, strong and ingeniously designed bike parts. The innovative use of high-quality materials means that you can expect life-long performance.

It is easy enough to make a simple product look simple, but it takes genius to make a complex product look elegant. That is what makes Controltech outstanding. Parts such as handlebars, seat posts and even stems may not look complex, but the final result is based on four key elements.

It all starts with the Research & Development phase, which is essential for a well-considered selection of materials and production methods. In the next step, aerodynamics are considered, and multiple real-life performance tests carried out. Controltech insists that its bike parts are always tested on the road by cycling experts.

Thirdly, the materials are selected. Controltech never opts for a single material but uses combinations of titanium, steel, aluminium and carbon, for instance, selecting the materials to be used for each bike part with the greatest care to make optimum use of the particular characteristics of the material.

The final key element is lightness of weight. A low weight is essential, but this is virtually guaranteed if all the preceding key elements are right. Careful design, the most suitable materials, and a beautiful, minimalist appearance combined with sophisticated production techniques ensure that weight remains low.

Controltech builds parts that are strong, light-weight and sophisticated.
